Jordan, OIC discuss ways to tackle extremism

Jordan and the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation (OIC) on Sunday (February 12th) stressed the importance of combating attempts to distort the image of Islam via a joint Islamic institutional action, the Jordan Times reported.

During a meeting in Amman, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and OIC Secretary General Yousef bin Othaimin also discussed mechanisms the OIC has initiated to help Muslim communities in the West, mainly the formation of a communication team with European Muslims.

Bin Othaimin expressed the OIC’s appreciation and support for Jordan’s pivotal role in highlighting Islam and its moderate values.

He also praised King Abdullah’s efforts to achieve security and stability in the region, and stressed the OIC’s keenness to continue its co-operation and co-ordination with Jordan.
