Sanctions imposed on 2 senior Hizbullah leaders

The US on Monday (January 9th) announced it was imposing sanctions against two members of Lebanon's Hizbullah, naming them as Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGTs).

The two men have been named as Ali Damush, a senior leader of Hizbullah and an aide to its leader, Hassan Nasrallah; and Mustafa Mughniyeh, a Hizbullah commander.

Mughniyeh is the nephew of Hizbullah's previous military commander, Mustafa Badreddine, and the son of Hizballuh military commander Imad Mughniyeh who was killed in 2008.

"Today’s action notifies the US public and the international community that Ali Damush and Mustafa Mughniyeh are actively engaged in terrorism," the State Department said.

"Designations of terrorist individuals and groups expose and isolate organisations and individuals, and result in denial of access to the US financial system. Moreover, designations can assist or complement the law enforcement actions of other US agencies and other governments," it added.

Oh you who spread sedition among Muslims! Oh you, the mercenaries of the United States and the Jews! You do not like for the Muslims to be united. For, if it was the case, you would have been working in support of humanity, and not for murdering of human beings. Don't you have any religious beliefs, faith, or humanity left in you?! You are a beast in the form of human who is only after its own interests. Don't you know that eventually you are going to die?!
