Lebanon army shells ISIL near Syrian border

The Lebanese army on Tuesday (August 2nd) retaliated to shelling from the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) on the border with Syria for a second day, Lebanese media reported.

Army posts in Ras Baalbek came under mortar fire from ISIL on Monday and the army "responded forcefully" using heavy artillery, the National News Agency reported.

Also on Monday, the army's 5th Intervention Regiment destroyed a post manned by Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, formerly known as al-Nusra Front, in the Dahr al-Safa area in the outskirts of Arsal.
