Arab coalition says new Houthi drone intercepted

Saudi air defenses on Tuesday (June 25th) intercepted a drone operated by the Iran-backed Houthis (Ansarallah) that was targeting a residential area in the kingdom's south, AFP reported.

An Arab coalition spokesman said the drone was aimed at a populated area in Khamis Mushayt, which houses a major airbase used as a launchpad for its campaign in Yemen.

No damage or casualties were reported.

The Houthis earlier claimed drone attacks on aircraft hangars and military positions at two airports in the nearby cities of Abha and Jizan.

The Arab coalition did not confirm those attacks.

Saudi Arabia has repeatedly accused Iran of supplying sophisticated weapons to the Houthis, a charge Tehran denies.
