Houthis hand security of al-Hodeidah ports to 'coastguard': UN

The UN announced Tuesday (May 14th) that the Iran-backed Houthis (Ansarallah) has handed over security of key Red Sea ports to the "coastguard", but much work remains to remove military equipment, AFP reported.

General Michael Lollesgaard, head of the UN redeployment committee, welcomed the handover "of the security of the ports to the coastguard", according to a UN statement.

"There is still a lot of work to be done on the removal of the manifestations, but co-operation has been very good," he said.
