Hariri leads delegation to 'Cedre Conference' in Paris

Lebanon's Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri and a delegation of ministers and officials traveled to France late Wednesday (April 4th) to partake in Friday's Cedre Conference in Paris, Lebanon’s Naharnet reported Thursday.

Some 50 states and international financial institutions are expected to participate in the conference aimed at backing investments in Lebanon.

The Lebanese delegation comprises Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil, Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil, Transport Minister Youssef Fenianos, Economy and Trade Minister Raed Khoury and Energy and Water Minister Cesar Abi Khalil.

It also includes Central Bank governor Riad Salameh and the Chairman of the Social and Economic Council Charles Arbid.

Lebanon is hoping to raise billions of dollars at the France-led donor meeting on Friday to stave off an economic crisis in the world's third most indebted country.

Lebanon hopes to raise "between $6 billion and $7 billion in the shape of credit facilities and funds", al-Hariri’s adviser Nadim Munla has said.
