Egypt's army said Monday (February 27th) it has killed six militants during several raids in North Sinai, Egypt's Ahram Online reported.
Security forces in North Sinai also arrested 18 suspects during raids on terrorist hideouts, army spokesman Tamer al-Refai said in an official statement.
Two storehouses used to hide explosives and eight improvised explosive devices (IEDs) also were seized and deactivated by the forces.
"Law enforcement forces will continue carrying out their mission with determination to extract the roots of terrorism and eliminate terrorist elements," the statement said.
The raids come after a number of Coptic families left the North Sinai provincial capital of al-Arish following a series of killings targeting Christians.
In the last month, seven Christians have been killed in North Sinai, where Egyptian forces have been battling the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL).
