Turkish Airlines is set to resume flights to Egypt's Sharm el-Sheikh in September following 10 months of suspension, Egypt's Ahram Online reported Wednesday (August 10th).
According to the Turkish national carrier's office in the Red Sea resort, the first flight from Istanbul to Sharm el-Sheikh is set for September 10th, with the first return flight set for the following day.
Turkish Airlines plans to operate four flights per week to and from the resort.
Turkish Airlines flights from Istanbul to Sharm al-Sheikh have been on halt since November 2015, following the downing in October of a Russian airliner over central Sinai which killed all 224 people on board.
Following the attack, claimed by the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL), a number of European airlines and governments introduced restrictions on flights to Sharm el-Sheikh over security concerns, most of which remain in place.
