Jordanian border guards have blocked an infiltration attempt from Syria into the kingdom, the Jordan Times reported Tuesday (August 9th).
Frontline troops spotted a vehicle speeding towards the border late Monday and followed the rules of engagement, destroying the car on the Syrian side and killing an unidentified number inside, the Jordan Armed Forces said.
Jordan's northern and northeastern border areas have been declared sealed military zones since a terrorist attack in June targeted a forward post set up to help Syrian refugees, killing seven people.
Attempts to infiltrate Jordan or cross into Syria have continued, however, the army said.
