Al-Qaeda claims responsibility for assault on Aden base

Al-Qaeda on Wednesday (July 6th) claimed responsibility for an assault on a military building at Aden airport that was repelled by Yemeni and coalition forces, AFP reported.

Between 15 and 20 militants dressed in military uniforms seized the headquarters building at Aden airport in the early hours Wednesday after detonating two car bombs, the military said.

The assailants set off one car bomb at the base's entrance then rammed through a second and detonated it inside, killing at least 10 soldiers before being pushed back, a military source said.

Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) claimed the attack on social media.
