Egypt forces kill Hasm element in East Cairo raid

Egyptian forces killed a Hasm element during a security raid against a hideout in al-Matareya district in East Cairo, Egypt’s Ahram Online reported Sunday (September 22nd).

"The terrorist hideout was used as a weapons warehouse in preparation to be used in hostile attacks to disrupt the country's security and stability," an interior ministry statement said late Saturday.

The statement added that two National Security officers were injured after the group opened fire as security forces approached.

Security forces seized a large quantity of firearms, ammunition, explosives, bombs, electric circuits, as well as a number of rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launchers and projectiles, the ministry said.
