Egypt condemns drone attacks on oil pumping stations in Saudi Arabia

Egypt strongly condemned attacks by explosive-laden drones on two oil pumping stations located on the pipeline from Saudi Arabia's eastern province to the Red Sea on Tuesday (May 14th).

Egypt expresses solidarity with and support for "the brotherly government and people of Saudi Arabia against any attempts targeting the security and stability of the kingdom", the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

It stressed the deep-rooted bonds and high-level co-ordination between the two countries in confronting terrorism and all threats targeting the security of the region.

Yemen's Iran-backed Houthis (Ansarallah) said Tuesday they had attacked several vital Saudi targets with drones.

The reported pipeline attacks came amid spiralling tensions in the Gulf, following a series of mysterious attacks on ships off the coast of the UAE and a major US military deployment to the region.
