Jordan, UAE to jointly develop humanitarian laws

Jordan and the UAE on Tuesday (April 9th) signed a memorandum of understanding in which they agreed to highlight and spread the principles of International Humanitarian Law (IHL), the Jordanian news agency, Petra, reported.

The memorandum, signed by the National Commission for the Implementation of the IHL in Jordan and its Emirati counterpart, stipulates that the two sides should work jointly to develop mutual plans, programmes and actions, in co-operation with the relevant authorities.

The deal was signed on the sidelines of an IHL conference that opened Monday in Abu Dhabi.

It also stipulates that both sides shall contribute to developing humanitarian laws that protect victims of armed conflicts, and move forward with procedures that aim to enhance the application of these regulations internationally.
