Egyptian navy rescues 2 French tourists in Red Sea

Egypt’s Naval Forces on Sunday (March 17th) rescued two French tourists from a sailing boat that had begun to sink in the Red Sea, Ahram Online reported.

A naval unit rushed to the boat after it was hit by 40-knot wind speeds, causing it to start sinking near the Qandera coral reef, south of the Red Sea port of Baranis, an army statement said.

Naval forces transferred the tourists to the nearest port, where they received treatment.

Earlier this month, Egyptian and French naval forces carried out maritime training exercises in Egyptian waters.
