Egyptian, British forces begin joint training exercise

Joint Egyptian-British military training exercise "Ahmose I" has kicked off with the participation of ground forces of both countries at Egypt's Mohammed Naguib military base, Egypt’s Ahram Online reported Thursday (March 7th).

The military exercises will continue throughout March, and will focus on counter-terrorism, urban combat and enhancing bilateral military co-ordination.

British forces and military equipment have been arriving at Egyptian air bases and naval ports to participate in the joint training.

A co-ordination conference was held Thursday between leaders of the participating forces to unify concepts and bolster the mission of the training.

The commander on the British side said the training aims to deepen ties between the Egyptian and British armed forces and to unite action to achieve security and stability in the Middle East.
