Egyptian naval forces arrive in Saudi Arabia for joint training

Units from the Egyptian navy arrived in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday (January 1st) to participate in the "Red Waves 1" joint naval exercise, Egypt’s Ahram Online reported.

Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Yemen, Djibouti and Sudan will be participating in the joint drill, Egypt’s military spokesman said in a statement.

The preparatory phase of the training includes lectures and conferences on the methods of involving naval units in maritime planning to achieve understanding and integration between participating forces.

It also includes the implementation of several activities to plan and manage joint naval combat and to improve the skills of commanders and officers, the statement said.

This will contribute to increasing the combat efficiency of the participating forces and achieving the highest levels of efficiency and readiness to carry out joint tasks under different circumstances, it added.

"The drill comes as part of the joint training plan carried out by the Egyptian Armed Forces with many other countries to develop military relations, face common challenges and support efforts for security and stability in the region," the statement read.
