Cairo to host 4th Islamic Conference of Water Ministers

Egypt will host the 4th Conference of Ministers Responsible for Water of Organisation of Islamic Co-operation (OIC) member states in Cairo on October 14th and 15th, the Saudi Press Agency reported Wednesday (October 10th).

The conference will discuss water issues in the Islamic world, and the ministers will review challenges related to water and proposed solutions, especially with regard to joint projects among member states.

The conference is held every two years with the participation of ministers concerned with water, or their representatives, in the OIC’s 56 member states.

It aims to co-ordinate efforts and develop joint co-operation among the OIC countries to deal with challenges related to water resources, drinking water, sanitation and disasters such as floods, drought or water-borne diseases.
