Egypt police kill 10 militants in North Sinai shoot-out

Egyptian forces have killed 10 extremists in a shoot-out during a pre-emptive raid against terror groups in al-Arish, North Sinai, Egypt's Ahram Online reported Tuesday (October 9th).

The militants were killed after security forces attempted to raid a deserted farm used as a shelter, the Interior Ministry said in a statement, leading to a shoot-out between both sides.

The intelligence gathered before the raid, which was provided by the ministry’s national security sector, showed that suspects were planning hostile actions, the statement said.

Those killed were found to be in possession of three machine guns, two birdshot guns and two explosive devices, as well as a large amount of ammunition, it added.
