New batch of Syrian refugees return from Lebanon

Lebanon's General Directorate of General Security (GDGS) on Sunday (September 9th) announced that 778 Syrian refugees had been repatriated throughout the day, Lebanon’s Naharnet reported.

"As part of its follow-up on the issue of displaced Syrians seeking to voluntarily return to their hometowns, the GDGS secured the voluntary return of 778 displaced Syrians from various Lebanese regions to Syrian territory," the directorate said.

This was done in co-ordination with the office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the directorate added.

The refugees were repatriated via al-Masnaa, al-Abboudiyeh and al-Zamarani border crossings.

"Buses provided by Syrian authorities took off from gathering points in Sidon, Nabatiyeh, Shebaa, al-Masnaa, Bourj Hammoud, al-Abboudiyeh, al-Buqaiaa, Tripoli and Arsal, escorted by GDGS patrols, until they reached the Lebanese-Syrian border," the directorate said.
