Jordan, Iraq mull shared industrial estate on border

Jordanian Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Omar Razzaz and Iraqi Defence Minister Irfan Hayali on Monday (August 6th) discussed the possibility of establishing a joint free industrial estate at the Jordanian-Iraqi border, The Jordan Times reported.

Razzaz highlighted the "deep-rooted" relations between Jordan and Iraq and expressed keenness to enhance co-operation, in a way that serves both countries, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Hayali conveyed Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi’s wish for more co-operation and openness in all civil and military fields.

The meeting focused on means to reactivate the Trebil border crossing and enhance commercial and investment exchange between Amman and Baghdad.

On Sunday, Jordan and Iraq signed a security agreement on border protection, counter-terrorism and intelligence capacity building.
