Promoting faith-based tourism a priority for Jordan

Promoting faith-based tourism to Jordan has become a priority, Tourism Minister Lina Annab said Tuesday (May 29th), noting that the kingdom has a number of historic religious sites, the Jordanian news agency, Petra, reported.

Jordan seeks to benefit from the international expertise in promoting religious sites and implementing joint programmes to identify sites of special importance in this field, she said.

Religious sites in the kingdom include the place of Jesus’s baptism and other pilgrimage sites mentioned in the Bible, which are promising assets for faith-based tourism, she added.

Meanwhile, Moments Innovation will host its first Tourism Media Summit on July 11th.

Founder and CEO Ayman Irsheid said the summit will seek to activate the role of the media in promoting tourism awareness, supporting tourism, empowering companies, and marketing and promoting tourism products.

Discussions will focus on the role of media and social media in supporting and revitalising tourism, emerging trends, innovation tourism content strategy, and contributing to the ongoing development of the tourism industry.
