Yemen proposes prisoner exchange with Houthis

The Yemeni government on Wednesday (May 16th) proposed a prisoner exchange for Ramadan with the Iran-backed Houthis (Ansarallah).

The offer was made by Yemeni Information Minister Moammer al-Iryani and Human Rights Minister Mohammed Askar, AFP reported.

The ministers called for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to serve as an intermediary so prisoners can return to their homes for Ramadan.

Among them are 14 Yemeni journalists held by the Houthis and an unspecified number of foreign detainees.
