Egypt army opens hotlines to report terrorists

Egyptian forces on Monday (February 12th) opened a number of hotlines to enable citizens to "report terrorists and places where they are suspected to be", Egypt’s Ahram Online reported Tuesday.

The launch comes as part of ongoing efforts by the armed forces and police to "eliminate terrorist hotspots and protect the state's borders in all strategic directions", the military said in a statement.

Citizens also can report attempts of infiltration and smuggling across the country’s borders, the statement said.

"The Armed Forces urge the Egyptian people to co-operate and provide accurate information that would help relevant authorities to detect, monitor and apprehend criminals and bring them to justice in accordance with the law," it added.
