Jordan hosts Counter-ISIS Finance Group meeting

Jordan on Sunday (February 11th) hosted the ninth meeting of the international coalition’s Counter-ISIS Finance Group (CIFG), the Jordanian news agency, Petra, reported.

The 110 representatives of member countries and observer states in attendance discussed progress made in efforts to block sources of funding for ISIS, particularly after its defeats in Syria and Iraq, the Jordan Times reported.

Depriving ISIS of its sources of funding and the use of oil resources is of special importance, Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) and National Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing chairman Ziyad Fariz said.

Fariz stressed Jordan's commitment to joint action to fight the group.

Assistant Secretary for Terrorist Financing in the US Department of the Treasury Marshall Billingslea said the US government appreciates its strong ties with Jordan and the CBJ as well as its co-operation to fight the financing of terrorism.
