Lebanon arrests 6 over forged travel documents

Lebanon’s General Security Directorate said it has arrested six individuals suspected of forging travel documents to facilitate the illegal travel of people from Lebanon abroad, Lebanese media reported Monday (October 23rd).

"General Security units have carried out several arrests between October 13th and 19th, detaining six individuals on charges of forging travel documents for the transfer of individuals from Lebanon to European, Asian and African countries," the directorate said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese army said Friday it had rescued 32 Syrians who were on a malfunctioning boat off the northern region of Anfeh.

"At 3 p.m., naval forces at the Wajh al-Hajar post in the Anfeh region detected a boat which was 23 miles away from the Lebanese territorial waters," the army said in a statement.

"A patrol from the Naval Forces then intercepted the malfunctioning boat and rescued 32 Syrian people, including women and children, transferring them to Lebanese soil for interrogation after preparing all the necessary means and measures to ensure their safety," the military added.
