Al-Qaeda targeted on 5th night of raids in Yemen

For a fifth consecutive night, air strikes targeted al-Qaeda elements in Yemen, AFP reported Monday (March 6th).

A Yemeni security source said the early dawn raid hit the town of al-Nasl in Abyan province, which has been the target of air strikes as well as an al-Qaeda attack on the army in recent days.

There were no immediate reports of casualties in Monday's raid.

A series of air strikes focused on the southern provinces of Abyan and Shabwa as well as Baida, slightly to the north, began on Thursday.

Gunmen suspected of belonging to al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) meanwhile launched two separate attacks on Yemeni troops in recent days, killing at least 10 soldiers in Abyan and Hadramaut province.

AQAP on Sunday evacuated suspected elements from several areas hit by the raids, including one town where top AQAP commander Abdulelah al-Dhahab had reportedly been in hiding.

Regardless of how much we differ with Saudi Arabia, the Saudi regime and the Saudi leadership, Saudi Arabia remains the back of the Arab nation and Sunni Muslims. The armed Iranian militias and armed terrorist groups coordinate fully to undermine global peace. The criminal, evil, terrorist acts which al-Qaeda, ISIL and other terrorist groups commit in several areas have nothing at all to do with Islam. All these criminal, terrorist acts serve only the Iranian regime and its expansionist goals in the region.
