Car bomb targets convoy in Yemen's Abyan

A suspected al-Qaeda car bombing in southern Yemen on Wednesday (January 11th) seriously wounded a senior security official and killed one of his guards, AFP reported.

Four other guards were wounded in the attack on the convoy of the head of the security services in the town of Loder in Abyan province, a security source said.

Meanwhile, an Australian man abducted in Yemen has appeared in a video asking his government to meet the demands of his unidentified kidnappers, the SITE Intelligence Group said Tuesday.

The video of the man, identified as Craig McAllister, shows him giving a statement with the barrel of a gun held against his head. It was uploaded to a file-sharing website on January 10th.

McAllister was taken hostage in Sanaa in September.
